The sports activities of the University is carried out by the directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Affairs. Apart from this, there are sports units in the faculties and the schools.In the beginning of each academic year, the sporting games in the categories of basketball, volleyball, football, table tennis, swimming and in various categories, our Directorate of Health, Cultural and Sports Affairs in cooperation with our School of Physical Education and Sports runs games in line with the recommendations of the Prime Ministery General Directorate of Youth and Sports.In the end of the tournaments, a committee ,authorized by the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Affairs, determines the students who will compete for Ege University in the competitions outside the university. Besides, there are various sports activities taking place during Spring Festival which is carried out annually.

The Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports mission is to carry out activities that contributes the physical fitness, mental health of Ege University staff , to provide the necessary infrastructure for the sports facilities in the Campus and to manage the sports affairs of the university.

 

Ege University Sports Hall with a capacity of 3150 spectacles is composed of basketball, handball, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis(6 table capacity)facilities in international standards and exercise and training rooms(step, aerobic and gymnastics)and a fitness saloon.

There are also a cafeteria, dressing rooms and showers (hot water available)in the facility.

All matches between faculties and schools take place in the sports hall. Besides, Ege University staff and students can benefit from the facilities via paying daily entrance fees or membership due. The daily entrance tickets can be provided from Campus Tennis Courts. The membership applications are taken by Sports Services Bureau at the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Affairs. Athletics Field, Fitness Saloon and Table Tennis are included in the membership privileges.

The fitness Saloon is inside the Sports Hall. To benefit from the Fitness Saloon , membership is required. There are physical fitness apparatuses in the saloon: one for fore leg, two for whole leg, one for back leg and one for abdominal, four for lower body, two for chest, one for shoulders, one for biceps, one for triceps in total six for upper body. Besides all of these there are dumbbells and weightlifting desks as well.

Ege University Olympic Swimming Pool hosting international competitions time to time is one of the most prouded of facilities of the university with its training rooms, and its technical infrastructure. It´s fully equipped the performances of water ballet and various water games.

The Swimming Pool, which is built to Olympic standards has 8 swimming lanes and provides accommodation for 2000 spectators. It´s 50 meters long and 21 meters wide. The water temperature is 26 centigrade in summers and winters. The hygienic controls of the pool is regularly checked by the Department of Public Health. Pool water is sterilized by means of an electronic system. . A paramedic and life guard are always available in the pool. Within the pool, there are changing rooms,cafeteria and a fitness center. Ege University staff and students can benefit from the facilities via paying daily entrance fees or membership due wit a dermatological health report.The membership applications are taken by Sports Services Bureau at the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Affairs. The swimming courses in various categories are available as well.

There are 8 tennis courts located in the Campus: 2 acrylic, 3 asphalt in the Faculty of Medicine and 3 asphalt in the Campus for our staff´s, students´ and the community´s use.The tennis courts in the Faculty of Medicine is situated in the backyard of the faculty and the Campus courts are near to the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. Both of the facilities include changing rooms and showers (hot water available)There are cafeterias about the courts. The facilities are benefited via paying hourly fees or membership dues.The membership applications are taken by Sports Services Bureau at the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Affairs. For hourly reservations, it´s applied to court management.

Ege University Minor Sports Hall with its capacity of 250 and a volleyball training ground serves for the activities of student clubs and the trainings of the students of School of Physical Education and Sports.

The football fields are used for the trainings and matches of the teams of Faculties and Schools. There is no membership and reservation ticketing for these facilities.

There is an outdoor sports field near to the Dean´s office building of the Faculty of Science. It includes 1 basketball, 1 volleyball grounds and it´s available for use without any membership or fees.

The jogging tracks are in the afforested ground and they have a soil floor. They are out of charge and free from limitations of use.
